The SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test) is a standardised test widely used for college admissions in the United States and some other countries. It is designed to assess a student’s readiness for college by testing their skills in:
- Reading (comprehension and analysis of passages)
- Writing & Language (grammar, punctuation, and clarity)
- Math (algebra, problem-solving, data analysis, and some advanced math concepts)
- Optional Essay (some universities require this, but it is now largely phased out)
The test is administered by the College Board and is an important factor in university admissions, alongside GPA, extracurricular activities, and personal essays.
