Year 9 Geography fieldtrip
On 28th February, a group of 80 young geographers from the Senior School, made a geography trip to Timsales, a timber factory located in Elburgon, Kenya. The tour was made in two groups with one half of the students visiting in the morning and the other half in the afternoon.
The trip featured a guided tour across the factory’s three production lines namely, saw mill line, plywood line and fibre board line. The student gained valuable insights about the inputs, processes and outputs involved in timber processing. They also learned a lot about forest conservation and sustainable ways to cultivate and benefit from them. It was quite fascinating for the students to see how the clipboards they were using to record their findings were actually made!
