Year 8 Taster Day

Yesterday, the Year 8 Prep School pupils went up to the Senior School for their Taster day.  They visited the different buildings at Senior School and met teachers, matrons and Senior School students. They also had the opportunity to attend classes and experience Senior School’s boarding life.

This taster day was designed to help the pupils settle in seamlessly when they join the Senior School later this year.  The day started off with the pupils being introduced to the Senior School Leadership Team. Senior School Headmaster, Mr Boulle spoke to them about finding and honing their talents and passions. Mr Chris Draper, the Deputy Head Senior – Academics then reminded the students that even though it is important to focus on academics, equally important is their spiritual life and that they should nurture this as well.

This was followed by an exposition on safeguarding and child protection by Mr Mark Buckler, the Deputy Head – Pastoral, before Ms Sue Hobkinson, the Head of Main School, explained to them what to expect and showed them to their new classes for the day. After having a taste of the various classes at the Senior School, making new friends and meeting their to be teachers, the Year 8s then enjoyed an afternoon of  various outdoor activities that included adventure, team building races, an obstacle course and archery.

All the pupils enjoyed their taster day and are already very excited about moving up to the Senior School in September and taking on all the exciting novelties and opportunities it will bring.
