Year 11 Geography Field Trip
On Wednesday 16th November a group of Y11 Geography students went to visit two farms in Njoro District. Our first stop was at an arable farm run by Luke Nightingale. We were met by Mr Nightingale who talked us through the farming operation and we saw a satellite steered combine harvester in action – a first for many of the group.
After a pizza and soda break at Kembu where Mr Aston proved himself to be the king of ping pong, we visited a pastoral farm run by Luke’s cousin Oli Nightingale. Here we learned about the inputs, processes and outputs of a dairy farm system. The highlight and possibly another first, was watching the cows being milked. Thanks to Mr Aston for organising the trip.
