Year 11 Geography Field Trip to Kiplombe and Londiani

On January 17th, the Senior School Year 11 Geography students visited the extinct volcanoes of Kiplombe and Londiani. On the first day the students trekked up the side of Kiplombe, across its crater and then down one of its flanks.

They then spent a night camping on community land before repeating the trek over Londiani. Throughout the trek students were able to observe the hydrology, vegetation and human activities in the area and better understand these fragile environments with the help of Mr Aston’s explanations.

The highlight of the trip however was Ariana’s calmness and impeccable first aid skills when Ms Hobkinson tripped and got a cut on her head. Thankfully she was back on her feet shortly after.
