
Y10 Geography trip to Kakamega Forest
On Monday 14 January the Year 10 geographers headed out with Mr Aston, Ms Hobkinson and Mrs Robinson to the Kakamega Forest. The purpose to visit the last remaining area of rain forest in Kenya and to learn about how it is being protected by the Kenya Wildlife Service. Students also gained the opportunity to develop their fieldwork techniques in regarding to measuring an ecosystem.
The highlight came at the end of a long walk through the forest which involved a steep walk up to a view point whereby we arrived at a waterfall where both students and teachers were able to cool off in the plunge pool.
