Victorious Hockey Season

The St Andrews boys have shown their class this season on the hockey field with some outstanding results. The U13 boys have led the way and had a very good season.

The 1st team boys have played with much skill and determination and have recorded 3 wins, 3 draws and just the 1 loss, which came after a last minute goal from Peponi House. The boys will look back and feel that most of the draws should have been wins if they had been more accurate in front of goal. The highlight was the 2-0 victory over Pembroke at home last week which will give the boys plenty of confidence going into the Kenton 7-a-side tournament this weekend.

The 2nd team boys have proven how much depth there is in the U13 age group by remaining unbeaten in their three fixtures. A superb performance against Peponi saw them runaway 7-1 winners with Tasharwa Munjanganja scoring an unbelievable six goals. They ended their season with a great 3-1 win over Pembroke.

The U11 Boys started their season slowly with losses to Pembroke and The Banda but since then have not looked back with four consecutive victories. This was mainly due to some solid work in defence where they have not conceded a goal in their final four matches. They beat Pembroke 1-0 in a warm-up 7-a-side game going into this week’s tournament at Kenton. There is plenty of pace in this team and they will be looking to challenge for the U11 Hockey title down in Nairobi.

The U9 Boys have had an inconsistent season with some very good performances at the up-country tournaments followed by some poor ones. They have proven they can challenge any team on their day as they have drawn to both Pembroke and Greensteds in the triangular. However they have also suffered some heavy defeats when they tire. They will be looking at playing with more consistency going into the U9 tournament at Hillcrest next week.
