Turi Sevens Rugby and Netball
The annual Turi 7’s event for 2018 was blessed with sunshine, right from the start this year. This helped to set the atmosphere from which Team Turi exploded into life. In the Rugby Tournament the A team won the main tournament in a very exciting and close match against Shamas A, winning literally in the last seconds of the match.
The B team finished in a respectful third place after winning the third/fourth play-off match against BGR. The MVP for the tournament was awarded to Emanuele Lovatelli, from Team A. In the Netball Tournament the A team also won the main tournament, beating Peponi in an exciting final. The B team finished in fourth place and the C team competed well in the pool stages, but unfortunately didn’t make it any further.
The MVP for the tournament was awarded to Nyakerario Omosa, from Team A. The Turi Prep team managed to achieve runners-up in the plate tournament, where they only lost by 1 goal to Hillcrest. Overall a very successful day for Team Turi, in a tournament that will live long in the memory for the minute silence tribute paid towards our late Head Groundsman Mr Paul Opicha. Altogether there were 140 players for Rugby, 14 Rugby Teams with squads of 10, and 180 players for Netball, 18 teams of 10 in each squad.
