Senior School Charity initiative

Chazon Childrens Center & School

Chazon is an institution catering to the needs of rural school children. St Andrew’s Senior School Students are involved in mentoring the older children at Chazon, giving them practical advice on how to succeed in the future.

St Andrew’s students have run icebreaker activities like musical chairs and hot potato, followed by discuss in small groups. One conversation centred on revision methods and how best students should revise. Another looked at students’ aspirations and helped come up with ways of achieving them. Mike, a musician, was encouraged to practice everyday.

“We left too soon”, says Robert Munene, a St Andrew’s Year 13 student. Michael Kariuki, in Year 12, says that he appreciates the opportunity to get a more vivid view of what life is like for those in need.
