Under 19 Tennis Tournament

This term, the Senior School hosted the Under 19 tennis tournament. Visiting schools including Kabarak University, Egerton University, Kisumu Senior Academy, Jalaram Academy and schools from Nakuru, competed in the two day event. All participants received a certificate and the champions took home medals.

In the Girls’ u19 Group stages, Annissa Cowan, Chelimo Koitaba, Oluwadamilola Salami, Sanchia Obi and Olufeyiseriore Apampa participated. Ann Mwangi, Myrah Oloo, Jirreh Sengeri and Esther Lucas made it to the quarter final while Anuna Mohammed made it all the way to the semi-final.

After two days of rigorous and enjoyable play, Maria Etiang emerged the Girls’ u19 3rd place winner with the winning spot going to Maureen Mwangi. In the boys’ games, Oluwamurewa Fagun made it to the group stages, while Austin Kasekende & Michael Ohonde made it to quarter final. Yambaleka Nchimbi came in 3rd place and 2nd place went to Tamunomiete Whyte.

Special mention goes to Ann Mwangi who won all her matches in group stages without losing a single game; Ann would later lose narrowly in the quarter final to Monica Werimo from Kabarak University. Ann’s sister, Maureen Mwangi, played her first tennis tournament and emerged the winner of the competition against Monica, much  to the delight of the Turi crowd who had gathered at the Senior School tennis courts to support.

Well done to all those who took part.
