The Junior Orchestra
The Junior Orchestra, Junior String and Junior Wind Ensembles are a first, in the recent past, for the Turi community. The Orchestra meets twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays, while the String and Wind Ensembles meet on Mondays and Wednesdays respectively. Pupils from Year 1 – 6 are all welcome to join. We are blessed here at St Andrew’s to be the first school in the country and indeed the wider East African community to employ the use of newly invented wind instruments by the Nuvo company.

The Nuvo company have created modern musical instruments which improve the learning process and inspire children of all ages to experience the joy of making music. Many traditionally designed instruments present hurdles that add to the challenges and inhibit the learning process unnecessarily. Nuvo produce instruments that minimise those hurdles and make it easier and faster for pupils to transition to the mainstream instruments.
