
Tennis Victories for Turi
St Andrew’s School tennis coach Mr. Bobby Ochieng organised a tournament that saw our under 15 tennis team beat Premier Academy by 5 sets and 35 games. Austin Kasekende, Turi’s first singles player won 6-1 in the first match.
Harshil Patel and Charles Omosa playing in the boys’ doubles extended Turi’s lead to 2-1 with a 6-2 win over Premier Academy while Bertha Mwesigye and Mary Wairimu had a field day in the fourth rubber match winning easily in the girls’ under 15 event with a final score of 6-0.
Ann Mwangi then went on to shine in the girls’ under 15 singles event propelling Turi to a 4-1 lead. The under 15 girls’ tennis captain, Ann sealed the victory for St Andrew’s Turi in style after dispatching Premier Academy’s Rochelle 6-1 to complete the 5-2 in sets win.
The focus now shifts to preparing for the upcoming under 15 and under 19 tennis tournaments at Rift Valley Academy later this term. “The teams are in high spirits, we have been training hard and we get better with every competition we participate in. Most importantly, the students are having fun while at it”, said Mr. Ochieng
