In May this year, we had thirty two participants from twelve visiting schools meet head to head with the Turi Senior Tennis team. The tournament ran for two days and had exciting prices on offer for the participants including certificates, medals and trophies. The event featured both a girls tournament and a boys tournament.

In the girls under 15 event, Maria Etiang was the winner. Jirreh Sengeri came in second while the second runner-up went to Anuna Mohammed. In the boys under 15, Karl Ochieng took the second position in a hotly contested final against Shandeep Jaiswal from Kisumu Senior Academy who took the winner’s Trophy.

The girls under 13 saw St Andrew’s Turi take position one, two and four. Esther Lucas emerged the winner of the round robin draw while Sanchia took home the most promising player’s medal. In the boys under 13 event, Lawrence Sesay came second behind Kosawo primary’s Enock Omongo. Lawrence had an impressive play making it through the quarter finals and semifinals to battle a very experienced Kwesi Baffoe at the finals.  Lawrence was crowned ‘Player of the tournament’ for his exemplary performance.
