Roundsquare Conference 2017

The much anticipated 2017 Round Square Africa Regional Conference is finally underway. We were pleased to receive participants from Kenya, Tanzania, South Africa, Namibia and Ghana on Sunday. Together with the Turi delegation, they have been engaged in a variety of fun and exciting activities.

Round Square is a world-wide association of schools on five continents sharing unique and ambitious goals. The key vision is a strong commitment to personal development and responsibility as well as academic excellence. St Andrew’s Senior School has been a Round Square school for many years and as a result, promotes the six IDEALS of learning, through its curriculum and extra-curricular activities.

This conference began in with an exciting opening ceremony, with prominent role models addressing the delegates and a dazzling performance by the Senior School choir, in the Baden Powell Hall. An afternoon of adventure was in store for the delegates as they took part in mountain biking through the School forest and rafting on the reservoir. They also had a go at archery, led by our very own Rio Olympics flag bearer, Shezanah Anwar! A treat awaited the delegates on Tuesday at the Lake Nakuru Game Park where they saw incredible wildlife and enjoyed breathtaking scenery.

The delegates had the opportunity to meet renowned Olympians such as Paul Tergat, Hon.Wesley Korir, Catherine Ndereba and David Rudisha, who are giving back to society in inspirational ways. Delegates also visited the tea plantations of Kericho and had a delightful time picking tea leaves in the fresh countryside air and learning about environmental best practice.
