Netball Victories for Prep School Girls
The Under 9 girls have played in 6 matches so far this term. They have won 3 and narrowly lost 3. The backbone of the team involves the energetic Claudia Kinuthia controlling the centre court, Elaine Wojega driving forward and popping in lots of goals and Tracy Obitre-Gama tenaciously marking the opposition while bolstering the defense.
The girls head to the tournament in Nairobi next Thursday 15th June where I am sure they will do us proud. At both Under 11 and Under 13 level our first teams are unbeaten, dominating in matches against Pembroke House, The Banda, Peponi and Greensteds. The junior girls have athleticism, height and agility.
Hera Olweny dictates whole games at GA and her talent dwarfs other players of her age. Gabriella Udoto is the mid-court dynamo, smoothly leading the transition from defence into devasting attacking moves. At the back, quick-thinking defender Ite Onemole is both nimble and strong.
The Under 13 girls returned from a successful tour to South Africa over the Easter holiday to continue in their winning ways. Captain Kalegi Sangale is faultless in every game. She is a smart, speedy defender who wears down the opposition, securing the ball and leading her own team into attack. Top scorer Stephanie Okeyo has been playing netball less than 6 months and nobody trains harder than her. With the calm, composed Sanchia Obi in at Centre and the enormous experience of Chrystal Oduk at GA, we are very excited about our prospects at the tournament in Nairobi on Saturday 17th June.
