Prep School Ignite

Amidst the busyness of Easter Term, it has been absolutely heart-warming to see pupils voluntarily choose to come to Ignite, our Prep School Christian fellowship, every Tuesday evening. At the beginning of the term, one girl decided not to sign-up for any non-compulsory activity which would clash with Ignite timings. She said that her decision was informed by her desire to grow in her faith and the opportunity to play with her peers, sing praises, pray, hear God’s word explained and to be encouraged.

This term, our focus was on the Christian golden rule: “Do to others what you want them to do to you” (Matthew 7:12 cf. Luke 6:31). The aim was to encourage us to aspire to live godly lifestyles and to inspire others around us to live that way too. The golden rule causes us to actively put ourselves in the other people’s shoes and to ask ourselves, “If I were them, how would I like to be treated?” Once we answer this question for ourselves, we must then act accordingly.

In seeking to understand the “golden rule” within its context of the Sermon on the Mount we considered what it means to be truly happy, kind, humble, righteous, peacemakers, comforters and joyous no matter what.
