Children in Key Stage 1 and Lower Key Stage 2 (Years 1 to 4) have been studying ‘Our Changing World’ in Science.
As part of this project, pupils have been enjoying the opportunity to venture outdoors and observe, identify and classify the plethora of animals and plants in Turi .
Children have been learning about the functions of different parts of flowering plants, their requirements for life and their life cycle – these KS1 children are dispersing dandelion seeds! They have been working scientifically to make careful observations of leaves, bark, buds, tree shapes and flowers.
The slightly older children in Year 4 have used these observations to classify the plants and record the information using keys.
