Overall Champions!
Team Turi headed into the Braeburn event confident after the win at Peponi Athletics a few weeks earlier, also held at Kasarani stadium. There was a steely eyed determination among the team to win back the title that they lost last year.
The day started slowly, with Turi students competing in heats on the track and holding their own in the field events. As the day progressed it became clear that Turi was advancing well with students placing consistently in the top 5 for each event. With several students qualifying for finals on the track, the day culminated in the sprints and relays, where once again Turi demonstrated their dominance.
The final results were announced amidst baited breaths:
- Under 15 Boys Team – 1st
- Under 15 Girls Team – 1st
- Under 19 Boys Team – 1st
- Under 19 Girls Team – 2nd
- Overall Winners – Turi
The team had done it. All the long hours of training and early mornings on top pitch had paid off as Turi once again claimed the top athletics prize of the season beating 16 other schools. An excellent result for the school in what has been an amazing term with sporting achievements and success.
