Macquarie University Presentation

On 23rd April, at the Tsavo Common Room, Mr. Anthony Bradley and Mr. Matthew Monkhouse made the long trip from Sydney, Australia to visit St Andrew’s Turi as part of their Africa tour. The two representatives from Macquarie University gave an informative presentation to Year 12 and 13 students with regard to opportunities available within their institution for international students.

Some College students have expressed interest in exploring university education in Australia and the Macquarie presentation was an excellent introduction in this regard. In addition to information about the university, the Australian gentlemen gave a quick ‘language clinic’ on some uniquely Australian vocabulary. Students learnt that ‘arvo’ is Australian slang for afternoon and that ‘barbie’ refers to a barbecue rather than a barbie doll!
