Kenya Champions, three years in a row!

Rugby 
During this year’s IAPS rugby tournament, the Turi 1st Rugby team crushed Kenton by 43-0. This became the theme for the next 2 games as they went on to beat Braeside by 26-5, and Brookhouse by 21-0.

Last Wednesday the Turi 1st team traveled to Hillcrest for the final match of the season. Despite being billed as a friendly tournament, the game was in fact very competitive. Turi however crushed Hillcrest; 17-0 to be crowned champions of Kenya for the third year in a row!

The U9 Rugby team played Greensteds in a fantastic game that saw both teams scoring 9 tries, leaving the final score level at 45 all. Player of the day went to Jonni for showing superb pace on the wing and scoring 5 tries.

Tennis
The first match of the Boys Under 13 Tennis Doubles pitched St Andrew’s Team A against Pembroke’s team A. Despite the Turi boys having a slow start, they finished the game as winners beating Pembroke by 4-2. Lawrence and Ryan of Turi also beat Pembroke’s team B by 4-0 in the third match of the boys’ competition.

Esther and Sanchia of Turi started off the Girls Under 13 Tennis tournament by batting against Pembroke and winning by 4-2. Esther and Sanchia of Turi then finished off the games with a thrilling victory over Pembroke’s Team A with a score of 4-2. The overall winner of the girls’ matches however was Pembroke House winning by just 1 game.

Netball
In Netball, our Under 11 A team played Banda in a tough and energetic game on Friday. Turi took the lead early on and managed to cling onto it till the end and winning by 13-9. On Saturday we played Peponi, where again Turi dominated from start to finish. The B team was also victorious over Banda by 11-6. The game against Peponi was extremely close but again the Turi B team pulled ahead in the last minute to win 18-17.

The Under 9 Netball girls also played and thoroughly enjoyed the match against Greensteds emerging victorious by 5-1. Players of the match were Claudia, who showed a ‘fighting spirit’ beyond her age, and Lena who stepped in as GD, moving in to defend and intercept passes from Greensteds.
