Junior Girls Boarding Update
The Junior Girls Boarding House underwent a makeover during the summer holidays, and the feedback from the girls has been really positive! Mrs Scammells and Mrs Llewellyn worked to transform the dorms and common rooms and the girls are really grateful for the beautiful spaces they have created.
The Year 1-5 dorms feature pinks and polka dots, while the four Year 6 dorms feature more contemporary Cath Kidston designs. In addition to the bunk beds we have introduced striking triple bunks, which the girls love! The Common Room has been updated and made into a really bright and welcoming space for both our boarders and day pupils. We have bright pink sofas with beautiful throws, bean bags and a special reading nest draped with beautiful netting.
Thanks in part to the beautiful rooms that have been created, the girls have settled in well to their home from home over the first half of this term. Our school ‘guardians’ who were assigned to look after new pupils continue to do a great job, and we thank them for the help and support they have given to our new pupils.
The girls have been given a variety of opportunities for leisure activities, spiritual enrichment, and relaxation over the last half term. Evening activities have ranged from gymnastics to film nights, and board games to art sessions. Under the guidance of Miss Hirons, the girls have produced bunting for their bedrooms, and many different pieces of art for their pin boards. One popular evening activity was a fun photo booth, with the girls using props such as funny glasses, moustaches and crowns to create fun photographs which were then printed for their boards. Weekends are busy times for Junior Girls, with the girls getting involved with Chippets and Brownies, and choosing from a range of sport and leisure activities.
The Junior Girls Boarding House is a busy place with girls constantly coming in and out for different co-curricular activities such as horse riding, swim squads, music practices, tennis lessons and more. It has been great to see the girls getting so involved in the opportunities that the school can offer them and hearing all about the things they get up to.
As we look towards Christmas, we are really excited to share the build up to such a special time with the girls. We continue to share their success, both academic and in enrichment. We feel blessed to have this opportunity to work alongside the girls and to see them grow.
