Inaugural St Andrew’s Day Celebrations
This year marked the first St Andrew’s Day celebration at the Senior School. Our School is named after Saint Andrew the apostle, one of Jesus’s 12 disciples. He is also the patron saint of Cyprus, Scotland, Greece, Romania, Russia, Ukraine, the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople, San Andres Island (Colombia), Saint Andrew (Barbados) and Tenerife.
The event at Senior School was organised by the Round Square Committee to encourage the spirit of ‘Adventure’, one of the Round Square IDEALS. The morning kicked off with a wonderful rendition of the Scottish National Anthem being played by the Senior School Orchestra. The students then made their way to the many activities planned for the day. These included canoeing, archery, mountain biking, sponge fighting, a water slide and Scottish dancing. The students were then divided into 16 groups, each allocated thirty minutes at each station. After they had all had their fill of fun, it was finally time for the pièce de résistance; a magnificent cake complete with the colours of the Scottish National Flag. Everyone is already looking forward to this becoming an annual Senior School event.
