Exploring the Exciting World of Computers
The new approach to ICT teaching, began in September 2014 when the National Curriculum subject previously known as ICT was given a new title: ‘Computing’. The subject covers three key areas namely, Computer Science, Information Technology (IT) and Digital Literacy. The aim of this approach is to expose pupils even as young as Year 1 to complex computing concepts like robotics and programming in fun, creative ways.

On 10th March, Year eight pupils took part in the 2017 Peponi House, Young Programmers Competition in Nairobi, where they got the opportunity to showcase their computing skills and learn from their peers. This year’s theme coincided with the 2017 ‘Safer Internet Day theme’: ‘Be the change: Unite for a better internet’; they used HTML and Kodu Game Lab to solve computing problems.
