Environmental Committee Trip to Mbita
This weekend encompassed a multitude of challenges for the environmental committee at the S.E.E.K program, testing our patience, willpower, bravery and teamwork. We were forced to step out of our comfort zones, resulting in a remarkable and inspiring weekend away on a ‘monitor lizard’ infested island.
Aside from the great time away, we developed many exciting ideas to improve the School’s environment and local community. One memorable idea involves the manufacture of pillows from recycled polythene bags, a scheme developed by the women in Mbita. Pillows made from recycled materials would be very cost effective and could provide comfort for our community. We will incorporate this into our Eco-friendly plan for the forthcoming year.
