Cricket and Rounders off to a good start
Recently St Andrew’s Prep School hosted Pembroke’s Under 13 B cricket team. The weather was perfect and the pitch was in good order.
St Andrew’s Prep School batted first and played cautiously. They protected their wickets well and accumulated runs slowly and carefully. After 20 overs they had scored 62 runs. Special mention should go to Lenny “Captain Marvel” Toroitich for taking care of his wicket but also inspiring his team.
With this slim total to defend the Prep School had to field well and this they did. Pembroke got of to a fast start scoring 25 off the first 3 overs but the pace was slowed considerably by excellent bowling from Lenny once again. St Andrew’s Prep School managed to hold on for 16.5 overs in the end thanks to the excellent fielding display. Man of the match went to Lenny Toroitich.
Rounders
The Prep School girls also hosted Banda and Pembroke for rounders matches. Turi Under 11 girls Team A had an exciting match versus Pembroke. They played very well with Talyah, Hannah and Elaine emerging players of the Match. The team B Under 13 Rounders match against Pembroke was equally spirited with Nicola Boulle and Anuli being awarded players of the match. Ime Ruth was player of the match against Banda for her exemplary performance on second base. Betty also played well, taking a great catch in the field and scoring 3 rounders in the first innings!
Janelle was awarded player of the Team A match against Banda for finishing the game with a great hit and scoring a rounder. She worked hard through training and put into practice what she had learned in the match.
We look forward to the return fixtures soon.
