
Cricket and Rounders Round-Up
Christmas term at St Andrew’s Prep School, Turi sees the pupils playing Cricket and Rounders as the main sports for the term. There has been plenty of hard work taking place in games sessions with the students working on improving their batting, bowling and fielding skills.
On the Rounders pitch the Under 13 girls started the season with two strong wins against Greensteds. Against Pembroke the Under 13 had three teams playing with the C’s performing superbly to win and the A’s and B’s losing narrowly but showing lots of promise and will certainly look at turning the table in the return fixture. The Under 11 girls performed well in their opening two matches to win against a strong Greensteds team. Against Pembroke the girls played a strong first innings but lost concentration in the field in the second innings and ended up losing the match. The Under 9 girls have also had an enjoyable Rounders season thus far with a win and a draw against Greensteds and two losses against Pembroke House. The boys have showed lots of determination on the cricket pitch and there has been a noticeable improvement in the skill level on the field. The under 13 group has played with lots of intent winning their opening two matches convincingly against Greensteds. The highlight of these two matches was the hundred run partnership between Denzel Majwega and Jamie Jean-Louis in which Jamie scored a superb 50. This was followed by a close loss against Cavina, as well as a loss against Pembroke. The Under 11 team have also showed great potential and started the season strongly with two wins against Greensteds. This was followed by two losses to Cavina and Pembroke despite some very good bowling and fielding performances, the stand-out being Hugh Boulle taking five wickets against Pembroke. The under 9 group have shown improvement throughout the term and against Greensteds have recorded a win and a loss and against Pembroke two losses. Below is a full summary of results.
