Chaplaincy Updates
Learning is a journey of exploration and discovery, which at St Andrew’s Prep School traverses all areas of our pupils’ life. At the core of this holistic learning are the Christian foundation and ethos of the School. As we look forward to Christmas celebrations and festivities culminating in the amazing Candlelit Carol Service, it is quite fulfilling to see the eagerness among pupils and staff for the things of God. Pupils and their Bible study teachers continue to enjoy interactive weekly Bible studies. This term our studies are based on the Gospel of John. These studies are aimed at challenging, encouraging, growing and maturing those who choose to attend them.
The weekly Leadership Chapels incorporate a biblical worldview, worship and prayer while geared to establishing a firm foundation for our enthusiastic young leaders. As we aim to grow compassionate leaders, our pupils also participate in outreach and charity activities in an effort to live out the example of Jesus and to encourage our pupils to develop hearts of service. The Ignite Committee which comprise 12 boys and girls, for instance, meet for prayer breakfast weekly to pray for the school, teachers, parents and peers. The team is also involved in organising the Ignite meeting – a Christian fellowship for the senior boys and girls. Our Sunday chapels are a weekly highlight as they provide a further opportunity for worship. This term we are looking at the theme ‘Discovering Faith’.
The prophet Micah (6:8) inspired by the Spirit of God writes: “He has shown you, o mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” As we study and grow in the knowledge of God’s word, let us choose to live it out for His glory and the good of our neighbour.
