2019 Basketball Round-Up
The U15 Boys Basketball team continues to show marked progress with every game they play throughout the 2019 season. The boys recently posted their biggest win in their home game against Braeside which they won 67-21. Although they have not been involved in any major tournament yet, they have won all their fixtures so far.
Their first win was away at Premier Academy which they won 28-18. This was followed by a 30-17 away win against Peponi School. Their positive results are a true reflection of the effort put in during training every day. Looking ahead, the boys have one more home game to before the main KAIISSO tournament to be hosted by Strathmore School over the second viso weekend next half-term.
U19 Boys’ Basketball Team started the season well with a 2nd place finish in the annual Rift Valley Academy basketball tournament. They were second in their pool and lost only two games the whole tournament; both of them to the winners Rift Valley Academy. The second set of games was at the Nairobi International School basketball tournament in Nairobi where the boys did their best but sadly bowed out in the group stage.
The third fixture was a home game against West Nairobi School where the team with home advantage convincingly beat their opponents. The team captain OJ has led the team very well both in talent and discipline as he continuously pushes himself and the team to achieve their best. As the team prepares for the KAIISSO tournament next half-term with early morning sessions and their practice sessions, the coaches wish them the best of luck in their journey.
As the coaching staff, we are pleased with their work ethic reflected by their progress, their growth potential, their passion for the sport, and improved discipline on and off the court. In light of this, we can confidently say that the future of Turi Basketball is looking bright.
