Under 13 Tennis tournament

Sunday 30th October saw the Under 13 tennis players compete at the Prep School’s Tennis tournament. The tournament, which took place between 11.50 am and 4.30 pm, was directed by the tennis coach, Mr Bobby Ochieng. There was an impressive turnout in the competition at the event from both the Boys and the Girls, with 12 participants taking part in the boys event and 8 in the girls event.

The boys played a knock-out competition with the seeding of players being based on their previous tournament results. As the number one seed, Yambaleka Nchimbi received a bye in the first round heading straight into the quarter finals along with Ryan Rubyogo and Oluwadolabomi Biobaku who were the second and third seeds respectively. Joining them in the quarter finals would be Kwesi Baffoe-Bonnie after winning his game against Oluwalaolu Gbadamosi 4-1. Kwesi Baffoe defeated Yambaleka Nchimbi to book a spot in the semi – finals. He however lost to Lawrence Sesay  who was the first finalist. In the other half, Ryan beat both Nwayobuije and Lawrence to emerge the winner of Boys under 13 event.

The girls Under 13 event featured a round – robin match that brought Esther Lucas head to head with Sanchia Obi for the second time this term. Esther Lucas was number one in the group A with 3 wins followed closely by Bertha Mwesigye who had 2 wins. In group B, Sanchia Obi finished on top with 3 wins while Sara Storry came in with 2 wins. Esther Lucas went on to the finals after defeating Sara Storry. She would go on to beat Sanchia Obi and become the winner of the girls under 13 event.
