Pastoral care in the Senior School at St. Andrew's is designed to create a caring and secure framework for our young men and women as they pass through a crucial stage in their development. Our aim is to maintain a high standard of personal behaviour with students showing appropriate respect for themselves and each other.
The boarding experience adds an immeasurable dimension to a student's education; each one learns to live in a community with many different people. Students have the advantage of a structured academic evening programme, with staff and other school resources on hand. Each child is highly valued for who they are, and learns to value, respect and appreciate others.
Our Senior School students live in four separate houses, two for girls and two for boys with each student sharing a double study-bedroom. Each house is run by Houseparents and Assistant Houseparents, who are often members of teaching staff.
Houseparents live in the individual boarding houses with their families and play a key role in the guidance and welfare of the students.
Students have access to the boarding houses during the school day and the houses tend to be the focal point of school life.
Each house provides kitchen and common room facilities for use by the students. Table tennis and pool are favourite pastimes in the evening and each house has access to DSTV at appropriate times.
