Prep School life at St. Andrew's revolves around four separate boarding houses known as 'Dorms' - Senior and Junior Boys, and Senior and Junior Girls. Within a safe, secure, rural environment we aim to provide a comfortable family atmosphere where children enjoy living and working together.
Children are able to relax in their Dorms after a full day at school, with space to be alone with a good book or to be together with friends. In short, boarding at St. Andrew's School is great fun!
Each 'Dorm' has two resident matrons and one set of houseparents. Our team is committed to the well-being of each and every child in our care; allowing them to develop and grow within a secure and caring atmosphere.
A happy pupil is the result of a successful partnership between parents and school and St. Andrew's prides itself on its accessibility. The School has an open door policy where staff are always available for children and parents throughout term-time. The Prep School has several trained counselors, including the school doctor, should the need for additional support arise.
A large measure of freedom within dorm time allows our pupils to explore and develop their own independence, enabling them to take responsibility for their own actions and to fill their own time both creatively and enjoyably.
Evenings offer opportunities to pursue cookery, art activities, jewellery making, volleyball, indoor football and table-tennis as well as the inevitable board-games.
The senior dorms benefit from DSTV and pupils are allowed to watch specific programmes at selected times.
The Chapel forms the focus for the School at the beginning of each day. The Christian faith is central to the ethos of the School and is reflected in many areas of School life. There is a full time Chaplain serving the School community.
